Dear participants of the workshop,
The
FIRST WEEKEND excursion is planned to the Oaxaca city and the surrounding
archaeological cites. The rent of the bus/van for 10 - 17 persons with a
driver which will pick you up from the INAOE on Saturday early morning and
brings back on Sunday afternoon will cost about 12000 Mexican pesos.
The meal and guide service in the archaeological cites are not included.
We have reserved 12 rooms in the hotel Maela located in the central
zone of the city, nearby the Cathedral Santo Domingo
(http://www.hotelesdeoaxaca.net/hotel-maela/ or
http://www.hotelesdeoaxaca.com/hotelMaela.html)
The cost is 595 Mexican pesos per a one bed room and 735 Mexican pesos for a
two bed room, respectively.
Please note that July is a high tourist season and thus we will appreciate if
those of you who are interested for the first weekend excursion let us know
before June 15th and indicate in which room (one or two bed) will prefer
to stay. We may also check if suites are available for your request.
The
SECOND WEEKEND excursion is planned to the pre-Hispanic city
El Tajin located in the state of Veracruz close to the gulf of
Mexico (e.g. http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/631). Thus we expect
you will have an opportunity not only to visit a spectacular place,
but also relax on the beach.
The rent of the bus/van for 10 - 17 persons with a driver which will
pick you up from the INAOE on Saturday early morning and brings back
on Sunday afternoon will be approximately the same as in the case
of the first excursion what is about 12000 Mexican pesos. This does
not include the guide service in the archaeological cite.
We are negotiating now with the authorities of the hotel Torre Molino
(http://www.hoteltorremolino.com) which is located in front of the sea.
The two bed room (the hotel does not offer one bed rooms) will cost you
1435 (without an ocean view), 1580 (with a partial ocean view) and
1700 (with a front view) Mexican pesos what includes taxies and
breakfast. We may also reserve three bed rooms if somebody needs
them.
Please note that July is a high tourist season and therefore we want to
make reservation next week. We thus appreciate if have a feedback from
those of you who are interested for the second weekend excursion
before June 23d. Please indicate in your replies in which room do you
prefer to stay.
Sincerely, LOC
