In this page, I show Color Composite images formed by combining
images taken in 3 different bands. The pricipal aim is to show the
distribution of star-forming (HII) regions in galaxies. Hence in most
cases, H_alpha (Ha) emission line image is used as the RED band.
B and V images are used to show the parent disk of the galaxies
assigning them BLUE and GREEN colors respectively. In some cases Near
Infra Red (NIR) JHK band images are used, where as in some other cases
H_beta (Hb) and OIII 5007 Ang (Oiii) line images are used.
The bands used [Blue, Green, Red] are indicated for each image.
All the images included here are taken during my various observing runs
over the years. Observational details are as follows:
- CCD Cameras at the 1-m and 2.34-m telescopes of the Vainu Bappu
Observatory (VBO), Kavalur, T.N., India, obtained mostly as part of my Ph.D.
thesis in 1991-92.
- LFOSC instrument at the 2.13-m telescope of the Guillermo Haro
Astrophysical Observatory (OAGH), Cananea, Sanora, Mexico.
- JHK images using the CAMILA/NICMOS 3 camera of the
Observatorio Astronomico Nacional 2.1-m Telescope at
San Pedro Martir (OAN-SPM-2.1m), B.C., Mexico.
