The 17 m Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescope MAGIC has been designed to reach the lowest possible gamma-ray detection threshold (10 GeV). Thanks also to the large effective detection area, MAGIC will therefore be a unique instrument for the study of numerous phenomena, including the nonidentified EGRET sources and the search for new galactic sources.
