Dear Colleague,
This is the second announcement for the conference:
"New quests in stellar astrophysics:
THE LINK BETWEEN STARS AND COSMOLOGY",
to be held in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on March 26 - 30, 2001.
In this announcement you will find a preliminary list of invited
speakers, information about hotels, registration fee and abstracts.
The scientific program and cultural activities during the week will
be shortly posted in our Web site:

Please update your information by clicking REGISTER at that site, if
you are already pre-registered. If you are not pre-registered yet, you can
still do so by following the above link. Alternatively, you can fill-out the
form enclosed at the end of this announcement and send it by email to
costa01@inaoep.mx. Filling the web form should be preferred whenever possible.
The deadline for filling the registration form is 15th February 2001.
CONFERENCE LOCATION AND HOTEL:
Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta
--------------------------------
The conference will be held at the Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta Hotel,
which will also be the principal Hotel for accommodation to the conference
participants. This hotel is of Deluxe category and disposes of a private
beach and wide tourist facilities. All the hotel rooms have an excellent
view of the Pacific Ocean. We were able to get special prices
for conference participants at this hotel.
The special rates are as follows:
Single Occupation: 130 US$/night
Double Occupation: 105 US$/night/person
Triple Occupation: 95 US$/night/person
These prices include
* Breakfast (buffet) and Lunch (buffet or served),
* Drinks and beverages from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM,
* Recreation and sports services at the beach and the swimming pool,
* Tips and Taxes
The special prices will be available for those who plan to extend
their stay for a few more additional days.
Hotel Playa Los Arcos
---------------------
While we expect a majority of the participants to stay at the conference hotel,
we have also arranged limited accommodation at Hotel Playa Los Arcos at
the following rates:
Single Occupation: 70.0 US$/night
Double Occupation: 35.0 US$/night/person
Triple Occupation: 25.0 US$/night/person
To the prices above add 17% of taxes.
The conference Hotel is reachable from this Hotel by Taxi in around 10 minutes.
Please note that the rates at this hotel do not include neither breakfast
nor lunch.
THE CHARGES FOR BOTH THE HOTELS WILL BE PAID AT THE REGISTRATION DESK
IN CASH (Mexican pesos or US dollars only) NOT LATER THAN WEDNESDAY,
28 March 2001.
ABSTRACTS:
The registration form contains space for including abstracts of your
contribution, which can be in simple text or in LaTex format.
A book containing all the abstracts will be given to all the participants
at the beginning of the conference. The deadline for receiving abstracts
is February 15, 2001. Abstracts received after this date will not be
considered for contributed talks. The abstracts will be posted at the ADS.
REGISTRATION FEE:
The registration fee for this conference is US$220.00 for participants
registering before 15th February 2001. There will be a discount of US$20.00
for those who choose to stay at the Conference Hotel. The registration fee
will be US$250 for registrations after this date.
The registration fee includes
* A copy of the conference proceedings
* Reception on Sunday evening
* Morning and afternoon coffee breaks, Monday to Friday
The fees should be paid to the LOC at the registration desk in cash
(Mexican pesos or US dollars only).
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES:
Puerto Vallarta offers a wide ranging outdoor activities. Information
on these activities and visits to local sites of interest will be
posted on the web page. Ample time will be provided to enjoy the
natural beauty of the place and there will be an excursion on a boat
on Wednesday afternoon. The conference dinner will be on Thursday night.

HOW TO REACH PUERTO VALLARTA:
Puerto Vallarta is connected by direct flights with most major cities
in Mexico and many cities in the US and Canada. Please check with
your travel agent the option which is more convenient to you.
