Ciudad Serdán, August 30, 2004.- INAOE's researchers, students and administration presented an exhibition of the LMT during the Feria of Ciudad Serdán on the 28, 29, and 30 of August, 2004. Thousands of people of Ciudad Serdán and the surrounding area enjoyed learning of the LMT project.

The exhibition was organized as part of the Outreach Program that INAOE's Astrophysics Department and the LMT Project's Office have implemented with the support of the government of Ciudad Serdán.

The exhibition consisted of many photographs of the construction site, a scale model of the LMT, posters, videos and scientific films. A special section for children allowed them to make their own paper models, view physics experiments and magnetic puzzles, and receive gifts. The models were a radiotelescope and the space shuttle Atlantis, and were built with paper, glue, and scissors. There magnetic puzzles were images of the planets. At the end the children received balloons and candies.

Based on comments giving in the exhibition guest book, many of the citizens of Ciudad Serdán and surroundings had indeed been aware of the LMT project previously. But now, thanks to the exhibition, they can better appreciate how the project will result in educational and cultural benefits for their community.
