INAOE and Synopsys Sign Collaboration Agreement
With the goal of coordinating the efforts for the development of the Electro Tllali semiconductor training project, on Tuesday, March 25, the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics, and Electronics (INAOE), a public research center coordinated by the Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (SECIHTI), and Synopsys signed a collaboration agreement.
The formal ceremony was presided over by Dr. Julián David Sánchez de la Llave, Interim Director General of INAOE, and Dr. Victor Grimblatt, Research and Development (R&D) Engineer, Executive Director, General Manager, and Executive Sponsor for Latin America of Synopsys.
Also present at the signing of the agreement were Ariana Musello, Test and Validation Engineer, and José Martínez Bertozzi, Supervisor, from Synopsys.
INAOE representatives were Dr. Claudia Feregrino Uribe, responsible for the affairs of the Research and Technological Development departments; Dr. Alejandro Israel Bautista Castillo, responsible for the Kutsari project at the Puebla campus; Dr. José Miguel Rocha Pérez, responsible for the Integrated Circuit Systems (ICS) area; and Janina Nava Ariza, from INAOE's Office of Institutional Liaison and Planning.
Dr. Bertha Patricia Guzmán Velázquez, designated Undersecretary of Technology, Innovation, and Sector Liaison for the Government of Puebla, also attended the meeting.
The formal ceremony opened with a welcome address by Dr. David Sánchez de la Llave. Dr. Claudia Feregrino gave a brief institutional presentation about INAOE, and Dr. Víctor Grimblatt spoke about Synopsys.
Both parties exchanged ideas and discussed the possibilities for collaboration, as well as the next steps to be taken within the framework of this agreement.
Regarding this agreement, Dr. Víctor Grimblatt comments: "Mexico and Latin America must play a relevant role in the semiconductor market. The collaboration between Synopsys and INAOE is part of preparing talent for this role and developing joint research projects that will allow us to fully develop INAOE's semiconductor capabilities."
For his part, Dr. Bautista notes: "We deeply appreciate the support and technical assistance that the Synopsys team has provided us during the installation of the tools and configuration of the process design kits (PDKs). This support has been key to facilitating the integration of electronic design solutions into our infrastructure, allowing more INAOE researchers and students to take full advantage of these cutting-edge technologies."
It is important to note that Synopsys is training INAOE staff this week.
