With Electro Tlalli, Puebla is at the forefront of technology

Santa María Tonantzintla, Puebla, February 10. This morning, in a press conference the governor of the state of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta Mier announced the progress of Electro Tlalli, the first accelerated training project in semiconductors at the national level, which is part of the efforts aimed at placing Puebla at the forefront of the national technological strategy announced by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo a few days ago.

In the “Mañanera”, Dr. Celina Peña Guzmán, Secretary of Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation of Puebla (Secihti Puebla) reported that the state will be one of the headquarters of the Kutsari semiconductor design center: “This project is important because it allows Puebla to achieve technological sovereignty.”

She added that on February 7, Puebla became the first state to carry out accelerated training in semiconductors through the Electro Tlalli workshop, organized by the State Government through Secihti Puebla and the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE), a center of the Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation (Secihti). 162 students participated in this first edition.

Dr. David Sánchez de la Llave, Interim General Director of INAOE, asserted that Electro Tlalli is an unprecedented initiative in the country that has demonstrated the talent of our youth with technology and innovation.

“The workshop trains students and teachers of Puebla in the design of integrated circuits, one of the most advanced and strategic technologies at the national level,” he stressed, and reported that there were 162 participants enrolled in this workshop, including 45 teachers of 24 high schools and 25 universities.

“29 percent of the participants were women, reflecting our commitment to inclusion in science, technology, mathematics and engineering,” he said.

He added that 85 percent of the attendees had no previous experience in Electronics: “However, thanks to a structured program and the dedication of our instructors, we managed to get 98 participants to successfully complete the workshop.”

Dr. Sánchez de la Llave announced that as a result of Electro Tlalli, 25 prototypes of integrated circuits were developed and they will be sent to manufacturing, “this represents an unprecedented milestone at this educational level. This achievement not only opens opportunities for participants but also positions Puebla and Mexico on the path to strengthening the semiconductor industry, a key sector for the country and the central objective of Kutsari.”

Electro Tlalli is more than a workshop, he said, “it is a step towards a future in which our young people will be protagonists of the technological revolution. We want to thank everyone involved. Our next objective is for these projects to be successfully completed on March 3 and thus continue to expand the impact of this initiative in future editions.”

For his part, Governor Alejandro Armenta congratulated the entire work team of Electro Tlalli and the future Kutsari design center. The fact that Puebla is the first state in accelerated training, he added, “brings us closer to the goal of becoming the Silicon Valley of the south-southeast region of of the country with the technological line that the President sets.”
