XXIII Science Workshop for Young People

Santa María Tonantzintla, Puebla, May 30, 2024. The National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE), a center of the National Council of Humanities, Sciences and Technologies (Conahcyt), invites high school students from the cities of Puebla, San Andrés Cholula, San Pedro Cholula, Atlixco and communities near Tonantzintla to participate in the XXIII Science Workshop for Young People (TCJ), which will take place from July 8 to 12.

The goal of the TCJ is to encourage scientific vocations in the STEM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and bring science closer to young people through talks, demonstrations and intensive workshops in the areas of research that are cultivated at the INAOE.

The TCJ program includes a Physics course as well as talks, workshops, demonstrations and experiments in Optics, Electronics and Computer Sciences. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the INAOE facilities.

The 2024 edition of the TCJ is aimed at high school students who live in cities and communities near the INAOE. Placement is limited to 30 participants. The registration deadline is June 14.

The TCJ accepts students under 18 years of age who are in the second year of high school and are interested in pursuing a scientific career. Another requirement is to live in a city or community near the INAOE to be able to return home every day, since there will be no lodging (Puebla, San Andrés Cholula, San Pedro Cholula, Tonantzintla, San Rafael Comac, San Francisco Acatepec, Atlixco, etc.).
