Article by INAOE researchers awarded

Last October, the twenty-fifth edition of the IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC 2022) was held, an event in which the work of Héctor Zepeda Reyes, a doctoral student in Biomedical Sciences and Technologies at the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE), Conahcyt center, received the recognition of “Best Track Paper” in its category.
The article with which he participated in the special session on computational and biomedical applications (Computer / Biomedical Applications) was titled "Comparative analysis of stained normalization in H & E histopathological images of breast cancer for nuclei segmentation improvement."

This work is part of Héctor Zepeda's thesis project under the direction of Dr. Hayde Peregrina Barreto, researcher in Computational Sciences at INAOE, in collaboration with the Jalisciense Institute of Cancerology (IJC) and the Center for Industrial Technical Education (CETI). ) from Jalisco.
This project links the analysis of medical images and digital histopathology, which has gained great popularity to automate histological grade identification processes in breast cancer tissues.
Additionally, the analysis of the tissue matrix surrounding the tumor is being carried out and which, according to the most recent studies, shows a behavior that may be indicative of malignancy/benignity.
