Puebla, Puebla, November 22, 2023. Astronomical observation with more than one hundred telescopes, 40 science workshops for girls and boys, 14 astronomy conferences, artistic events, the science truck and a mobile planetarium make up the program of activities of the Night of the Stars 2023, which this year will be held at the Puebla Exhibition Center, the Puebla Planetarium, the Museum of Evolution and the Plaza de la Victoria in the historic area of Los Fuertes.

At a press conference today, it was announced that the aforementioned venues located in the capital of Puebla will host this year the fifteenth edition of the Puebla Night of the Stars on November 25 from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The activities will be completely free.
The Night of the Stars 2023 is organized by the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE), center of the National Council of Humanities, Sciences and Technologies (Conahcyt), and Conventions and Parks of Puebla.

The Night of the Stars is one of the most important scientific dissemination events in Latin America. It has its origin in the Nuit des Etoiles, which emerged in France in 1991 to raise awareness about the importance of dark skies and invite all people to observe and enjoy the sky.
This activity is carried out on the same day practically throughout the national territory. In Puebla, one of the venues is organized by the INAOE and Conventions and Parks.

Every year, to carry out the Night of the Stars, we have the support of different institutions. This 2023 is no exception, and the Alliance Française of Puebla, the Le Bret School, the CONALEP Chipilo, the Science and Technology Council of the State of Puebla, the Puebla Reading Council, the Ibero Puebla, have added efforts to this great event. the Francisco Esqueda Institute, the Ibero High School, the Serendipia collective, the Youth Scientific Society and the UPAEP. Likewise, researchers, researchers, technicians and students from the INAOE will participate.

Likewise, the Alfonso Serrano Large Millimeter Telescope will have a stand, and the student chapters of IEEE and OPTICA will also participate at the INAOE. The Science and Technology Council of the State of Puebla will place its science cart and a mobile planetarium.

The workshops will be offered starting at 4 p.m. in the Exhibition Center with themes such as galaxies, fractals, eclipses, fraction dominoes, nebulae, constellations, laser microscope, colored dough, spectrograph and scientific lottery. Experiments will also be carried out with IEEE educational kits.

Likewise, starting at 4 p.m., two series of simultaneous conferences will be offered in the Planetarium and the Museum of Evolution. Among the topics that will be addressed are the Large Millimeter Telescope, dark matter in the universe, asteroids, the women who changed astrophysics and the mysteries of the Sun, among others.
A program of artistic activities of dance and music will also be offered, and from 6 to 11 p.m. various celestial objects will be able to be observed through the more than one hundred telescopes that will be set up that afternoon in the Plaza de la Victoria.
In Mexico the Night of the Stars is coordinated by a National Committee to which the Mexican Academy of Sciences, the INAOE, the UNAM, the IPN, the Mexican Space Agency, the French Embassy and the Mexican Association of Planetariums belong, among other institutions. .
It is important to emphasize that in the state of Puebla there will be more than 30 venues for the Night of the Stars. The complete list can be consulted at https://www.inaoep.mx/vinculacion/activityes-de-divulgacion
