The summer stay of Ibero Santa Fe students at the INAOE concluded successfully

A few days ago the summer stay of students of the Physics Engineering career of Ibero-Mexico City at INAOE concluded with great success.
This was reported by Dr. Eduardo Tepichín Rodríguez, a researcher at the Optics Coordination of this Institute, who added that for more than 15 years this public research center of Conahcyt has received students from the Universidad Iberoamericana Santa Fe campus.
He reported that these summer stays were carried out continuously until 2019, but that due to the pandemic they were suspended in 2020, 2021 and 2022, and that they were resumed until this year.

This program with Ibero Santa Fe arose from Dr. Tepichín's interest in letting students to have the same experience that he had as a thesis student at INAOE several years ago, so they  can live first-hand the experience of working in a top-tier research center.

During the summer the students study two subjects, Optics and the Optics laboratory, which can be revalidated at their university.

At the same time, they are involved in a research project for six weeks, "it's a kind of research assistantship," he says.
This year, there were three students from the Ibero Santa Fe who were at the INAOE. One of them was Kyra Jacobo Luna who, under the advice of Dr. Omar López Cruz, developed the project "Study of gravitational lenses as optical systems."

Ricardo Patiño Anaya also came to the INAOE. Under the advice of Dr. Esperanza Carrasco Licea and Dr. Rafael Izazaga Pérez, he carried out the project entitled "Catalog of the reference surfaces of the TARSIS project." Finally, Diana Choreño Ramírez worked with Dr. Emanuele Bertone on the “Analysis of the ultraviolet variability of stars with extrasolar planets”.

Dr. Tepichín said that this collaboration between INAOE and Ibero Santa Fe is expected to continue.
At the end of the stay, the students make a presentation of the research project in front of their classmates, Ibero-CDMX authority advisors and the general public. This year we have the presence of Dr. Dominique Brun Battistini, Director of the Department of Physics and Mathematics, and Dr. Edmundo Palacios Pastrana, Coordinator of the Degree in Physics Engineering, both from Ibero-CDMX.
