Seminar on Teaching Sciences will be held at INAOE

Santa María Tonantzintla, Puebla, July 11. Lectures, short talks, round tables, educational workshops and poster sessions make up the program of the Seminar on Teaching Exact Sciences, which will take place at the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE) next Saturday, July 22 .

This was reported by Dr. Roberto Romano Rivera, coordinator of INAOE's Master's in Teaching Exact Sciences (MECE), who added that the objective of the seminar is to provide feedback on the teaching practice of MECE students, obtain information on the impact that the master's degree in the training of teachers who teach exact sciences and "receive suggestions for improvement of the Master's, which will help us to focus our didactic and pedagogical tools."

Dr. Romano Rivera stressed that the seminar is aimed at both MECE students and teachers interested in teaching exact sciences. “There are no requirements, you just have to attend the call and fill out the registration and registration form. If you are interested in sharing some work, you must fill out the form for that purpose. There is also a form for MECE graduates”.

The interviewee explained that the seminar will be a hybrid event, which means that they will be able to participate in person or online.
“The activities begin at nine in the morning with a lecture by Dr. Daniela Reyes Gasperini entitled Mathematics: why it is important to talk about the teaching and learning processes. Dr. Reyes is a graduate of CINVESTAV, her research area is teacher professional development and the development of mathematical thinking. Later there will be short talks and poster sessions by students and alumni but also by teachers interested in sharing work they have done. Then we will have another conference by Dr. María Eugenia Sánchez Morales, from the University of Guadalajara, who will talk about Physics and educational issues. Later we will have another conference by Dr. José del Carmen Orozco Santiago, who will talk about digital technologies. In addition to these conferences there will be round tables and workshops”.

Dr. Romano added that on July 22, two hours will be dedicated to the workshops: "that day an introduction will be given to the activities that will be carried out and the way to continue with the additional ten hours to be carried out virtually through the educational platform that will be reported in each workshop.”
