Meet our researchers: Dr. Alfredo González Fernández

Dr. Alfredo González Fernández is a researcher at the INAOE Coordination of Electronics. He is a Level II National Researcher (SNI II). He studied Electronics Sciences at BUAP. He also has a degree in Physics from the Spanish Ministry of Education. He completed a master's degree in Electronics at this Institute and obtained a doctorate in Nanosciences, with an "Extraordinary Cum Laude" rating, from the University of Barcelona.


He has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Instituto de Microelectrónica de Barcelona-Centro Nacional de Microelectrónica, INAOE, the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC),
His lines of research are laboratory on a chip, silicon photonics, electrophotonics, photonic sensors, nanostructured materials and light sources.
He has participated in various projects funded by the European Union, Conahcyt, the European Research Council and the Spanish Ministry of Economy.
He has directed various doctoral theses and has published countless articles in international scientific journals. In 2021 he was awarded the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship of the European Commission. In 2018 he won the INNOVATIS National Technological Innovation Award for Social Inclusion in the category of Ideas. He has carried out countless scientific outreach activities.
