The Causal Discovery Workshop is inaugurated
Santa María Tonantzintla, Puebla, June 20, 2023. Today the Causal Discovery Workshop was inaugurated at INAOE. The objective of the workshop is to present recent advances in causal discovery, including the different approaches that consider observational and/or intervention data , and also the construction of models with the help of human experts.
The workshop brings together researchers and students from Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Statistics and Cognitive Sciences working on causal discovery, causal model building and evaluation, as well as practical applications.
The event was inaugurated this morning by Dr. Edmundo Antonio Gutiérrez Domínguez, General Director of INAOE, who welcomed all attendees. The opening ceremony was also presided over by Dr. Luis Enrique Sucar Succar, a researcher at the INAOE Coordination of Computational Sciences and organizer of the Workshop, who referred to the objectives of the workshop, and by Dr. Julio César Muñoz Benítez, postdoctoral researcher at this Conahcyt center, who spoke about the program of activities.
The workshop began yesterday with four tutorials to introduce theoretical and practical aspects and, starting today, there will be lectures, including two magisterial ones. There will also be a panel discussion.
The invited speakers are Professor Adan Darwiche, director of the Automated Reasoning Group at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and Dr. Rubén Sánchez Romero, from the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience in the United States.
