Santa María Tonantzintla, Puebla, June 16, 2023. With the aim of raising awareness about the impact of technology and motivating girls, boys and young people to delve into and dedicate themselves to science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM), on June 29, the event "Open Engineering for Citizenship" will be held in the city of Puebla.

This activity is organized by the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE), the H. Puebla City Council, and the student branches of the IEEE Puebla section of various state education institutions, and will be held within the framework of the Conference Latin American Conference on Electronic Devices IEEE (LAEDC 2023), to be held in the capital of Puebla from June 29 to July 5.

"Open Engineering for Citizenship" is aimed at secondary and high school students, and consists of a series of workshops that will be offered starting at nine o'clock in the Municipal Palace of the capital of Puebla, where schools will be served by providing interactive workshops for teaching electronics with Snap Circuits and PortAqua kits.

Likewise, there will be activities in the zócalo, where the general public will be received. An exhibition of posters on humanitarian technology projects will be mounted there. Telescopes with solar filters will also be installed to observe the Sun and a traveling planetarium. It is important to add that these workshops are also aimed at children and adolescents with hearing and visual disabilities and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
